How to get there
Tai O is easily accessible by public transport. The North Lantau Expressway connects road traffic to the north of Lantau Island. By rail, the MTR Tung Chung Line links Central with the town of Tung Chung right opposite the Hong Kong International Airport. At the Tung Chung Bus Terminal, catch a ride on the number 11 bus which terminates at Tai O. Another option will be a trip via Ngong Ping by cable car and then by bus number 21 to Tai O. By sea, the Fortune Ferry Co. Ltd. operates ferry services from Tuen Mun to Tai O.

Hiking lovers can also walk along the north-western coast of Lantau Island. From Tung Chung to Tai O roughly takes four hours and the trail is mostly well paved and therefore easy for any inexperienced hikers.
